Who I am
I live in a small village near Barcelona between vineyards, forests and the Mediterranean Sea. It’s the kind of place where time seems to move in a different way, and I think that comes through in every photo I take.
My name is Juanjo Vega. I photograph weddings in Barcelona, Sitges, Costa Brava and different international destinations.
For me, photography has always been, above all, a way of looking.
My way of understanding photography
A wedding is, first and foremost, a story. And the best stories are not directed, they are discovered.
I work from a documentary point of view, in silence and close, attentive to the moments that say something true about you. A cross look during the ceremony. The laughter that no one expected. The light falling on the details of a table. All that is part of the story.
My approach combines documentary wedding photography with a careful aesthetic sensibility. Natural, refined and timeless images, meant to remain beautiful long after trends have passed.
My background
Photography has always been part of my life, long before I dedicated myself to it professionally.
I trained in Advertising Photography and Art Direction, and since then I have photographed weddings in Barcelona, Sitges, the Costa Brava, Mallorca and international destinations such as Holland, Switzerland, Paris, New York or the Mediterranean islands.
Each place brings something different. But what makes a story special is always the same: the energy of the people who live it.
Beyond the camera
When I’m not photographing I get lost in a good novel, in a last minute trip, in a movie that obsesses me for how it is shot and in the quiet life of that village among vineyards and olive trees where I live with my family.
It is those moments, the everyday ones, the small ones, the ones that nobody photographs, that remind me why wedding photography matters: because time passes quickly and the images help us to preserve what is really valuable.
